Christmas Eve meeting of Silesian Voivodeship Uniformed Services 19.12.2013

On 19 December 2013 a solemn meeting of the Uniformed Services of Silesian Voivodeship was held. The hosts of the ceremony were the Jasna Góra Sanctuary of Black Madonna of Częstochowa and the Central School of the State Fire Service in Częstochowa.
These are dedicated people who cherish the service, said Silesia Province Governor Zygmunt Łukaszczyk about the uniformed services during the Christmas and New Year's meeting in Częstochowa. For the sixth time, on the initiative of the Silesia Province Governor, police officers, firefighters, soldiers, border guards, prison officers, customs chamber officers, representatives of emergency services, special services, members of marksmen’s society, veterans, foresters, miners, chimney sweeps and clergy traditionally shared the holy wafer.
The ceremony began with the holy mass in Jasna Góra basilica, celebrated by Archbishop Wiktor Skworc, Metropolitan of Katowice. One must have faith to not turn away from the mystery of one’s vocation to serve family, community, nation and the Church. To hopefully take the burden of responsibility, and even physical and spiritual suffering that we encounter- said in his homily, Archbishop Wacław Depo, Metropolitan of Częstochowa.
On behalf of the uniformed services, Silesia Province Governor Zygmunt Łukaszczyk, Chief Brigadier Marek Rączka and Senior Brigadier Marek Chmiel laid flowers at the Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Częstochowa.

After the liturgy at Jasna Góra monastery, the participants met at the Central School of the State Fire Service in Czestochowa, where they received lanterns with "Bethlehem Light of Peace" from scouts and watched a highland nativity play performed by the children of the "Mali Dzianiszanie" regional group. Governor Zygmunt Łukaszczyk gave the executives of the Silesia Province uniformed services his best Christmas and New Year wishes, adding: Serve people like Son of God used to serve, who, in tiny Bethlehem, was born in a manger. Let this great love of God which, on a Bethlehem night appeared on earth, become an inspiration to serve the common good in our common Homeland.
