To meet the threats resulting from the presence of an electric current in the course of fire and rescue , The Central School of the State Fire Service in Czestochowa on February 26-27, 2014, organized training " Electricity and safety of firefighters ."
That training was to familiarize firefighters issues arising from the impact of electric current with which they have to deal with during the firefighting and rescue operations .
The training was attended by more than 70 firefighters Extinguishing and Rescue Units from across the Polish.
The workshop began with a seminar combined with practical exercises in the laboratory of prevention of fire in the electric power industry , during which were discussed fire hazards arising from the installation and electrical equipment including : Phenomena in the cables and connections contacts in devices and electrical devices , the impact of the installation and electrical equipment on the rise and spread of the fire, as well as the risks associated with the voltage stepper and methods of limiting it. During the exercises tested in the laboratory conduction used personal protective equipment such as firefighting boots , gloves special as the basic equipment of firefighters to work within an active network or electrical wiring.
The remainder of the workshop was conducted exercises with emergency medical services in the field of rules of conduct in the salvage of infected electric shock. Discussed the impact of electricity on the human body , as well as thermal damage that occur when an electric shock.
Then, in the military training school conducted exercises with instructions and showcased detection equipment . In this part of the classes had a workshop , and discussed handheld detection equipment is presented in special cases to which firefighters are in direct contact during firefighting and rescue operations .
At the end of the workshop covers basic information on fire safety regulations . in buildings , namely the protection of objects before the rise and spread of the fire, the legal requirements of fire . in facilities , legislation regarding inspection and maintenance of electrical installations including the impact of high temperatures on the electrical wiring .
The summary of the training was a lecture led by a representative of the energy emergency Czestochowa , which every day works with the fire department during an emergency .
The whole training was a great opportunity to raise awareness firefighters risks from electricity, which are inevitable when conducting firefighting and rescue operations .
